Digital Record of One Unexpected Cat

And Everything She Taught Me

This site exists because a pregnant community cat showed up on February 10, 2026 — and I had no idea what I was doing. What followed was 43 days of showing up anyway.

The Story Behind Conan Community Cat

This didn’t start with a plan. A diluted tortoiseshell cat appeared in our backyard in early February 2026 and kept coming back. She was clearly pregnant. I started feeding her, then built a shelter, then — on the morning of February 28th — watched her give birth to six kittens in a nest she’d made herself. I had googled almost everything I knew.

I documented everything: the feeding schedule, the kitten milestones, the moment I realized I needed to find a rescue, the transfer to Tiny Kitten Coven in San Diego. I couldn’t find many accounts of this from someone who genuinely started from zero. So I kept mine. This site is that record—honest, unpolished, and still ongoing.

Our Philosophy

Community cats don’t belong to anyone; but they’re still someone’s responsibility. Not legally. Morally. If you’re the person who noticed, you’re already the person who can help. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. You just have to not look away.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m the Accidental Caregiver

I’m not a cat rescuer. I’m not a vet tech or an animal behaviorist. I’m someone who noticed a pregnant cat in their backyard and decided that not knowing what to do wasn’t a good enough reason to do nothing. Everything I learned, I learned in real time — from rescue forums, from Tiny Kitten Coven, from watching Conan herself.

I started documenting because I wanted a record. It became something more when I realized how many people are in exactly this situation — a cat shows up, they don’t know what to do, and they can’t find honest accounts from other first-timers. This site is for them as much as it’s for me.
