Who is Houdini?

Houdini earned his name early. While his siblings were attempting to climb out the front of the nest box, Houdini had already found a way out through the back—and more impressively, had figured out how to get back in. He revealed his method far too readily, which is perhaps the most Houdini thing about him.

Despite the reputation the name implies, he is the calmest of the litter in human hands. He goes still, looks around, takes stock. There’s a smile-shaped marking on his face that the caregiver found impossible to ignore — the kind of detail that makes you want to take care of something a little more than you already were.

He does things his own way — quietly, without announcement, and usually from an unexpected direction. The back of the box while everyone else charges the front.

What to Expect

Playful but Measured

Houdini plays with genuine enthusiasm but doesn’t escalate to chaos. He’s curious and will investigate everything—just at his own thoughtful pace rather than at full sprint.

Gentle & Trusting

He’s the most relaxed of the litter when held. He doesn’t squirm, doesn’t protest, just settles in and looks around. Socialized from week two, he approaches familiar humans with easy confidence.

Old Soul, Independent but Social

He participates in group play but doesn’t need to be at the center of it. He’s been noted as doing well with Duke — the caregiver’s hope is that they’re adopted together, as Houdini is not seen thriving alone.

Gentle & Patient

Houdini would flourish with a companion and a home that appreciates a cat who is affectionate without being demanding. The kind of cat you find sitting near you, quietly, who you didn’t notice arrive.
